To report ex?

Would you report an ex for benefit fraud if you knew for a fact they were doing it? meaning they only have to pay you pennies for 4 children? both my friends have said I should report him but I dont know if its the right thing to do?

Would you feel in any physical danger from him once he knew you'd reported? Obviously he does deserve to be reported, but you have to balance what it would actually achieve versus your safety.

He has been violent in the past but he is out of my life now (he doesnt see our children because he chose not to.) so im not sure he would do anything but cant be certain.
