Dd 5 had an eye test on Saturday it was discovered that she had radioed nerves at the back of both eyes she was sent up to hospital where a doctor was waiting at the door for her she got some scans last night ultrasound and they looked into them again . He said it’s probably ok but wants to referrer for a mri scan :( which she will get Monday or Tuesday. It’s all very urgent sounding. Dd has been getting headaches as well which made it worse when I told them :( iam so worried

I don’t know what I expect to happen unless someone can look it to the future for me

That sounds scary but the doctor said it will probably be ok, and they have to double check things just to be on the safe side.

She’s probably absolutely fine. Hang in there Flowers

Understandably you're really worried. I think you have to be guided by the doctor who is referring her for the MRI that it is probably ok. I should imagine they wouldn't take any risks and follow up with MRI to be 100%.

Babdoc · 15/07/2018 11:50

Don’t meet trouble halfway, OP! I doubt your doc would say it’s probably ok if there was a high chance of a serious problem - they wouldn’t want to give false reassurance. Lots of common minor things need to be checked out just to exclude the odd rare nasty one.
Sufficient unto the day are the evils thereof, etc. Concentrate on supporting DD and not worrying her.
Trust the doctors to do their job, and diagnose and treat this as required.
And offload your own worries to friends, family, MN or in prayer. You won’t have to deal with this alone.

I had an eye emergency last year. It’s VERY worrying, especially as you can’t actually see the back of the eyes. The opticians take anything like this very seriously, as do the doctors. It’s their job. Even if slightly worried they treat it as an emergency. I would be very reassured by the doctors words. The extra check will just be to confirm what they already know - which is its not too bad.
I know it’s hard not to worry but hopefully she will be fine. You are a great mum making sure she goes for the eye test and she is now in the best possible hands. At least you haven’t long to wait.
Fingers crossed for you.

When she saw the doctor he looked worried and wouldn’t say what he thought He wouldn't say what he thought because it's so unlikely and he doesn't want to worry you.

By the way, what are "radioed nerves"?

edinburghlass1991 · 20/07/2018 15:36

It’s done she was so brave! Re radioed nerves I have no idea ! It’s swollen optic disc that they found
