I cannot seen to stop waking at 5.

I’m absolutely exhausted, can’t do anything in the evening because I’m so tired. Also makes the days seem so very long and dull.

Help!

Watching because I’m exactly the same. I’ve been told it could be a symptom of anxiety so might try some Kalms.

continuallychargingmyphone · 14/07/2018 19:51

I didn’t think of that I must admit - let me know if they help

My wake up time was 4.35 on the dot !i got some valerian tablets last week and slept right through till 7 every night since ! Holland and Barrett if you are in uk

Kalns can be good...

Also basic sleep hygeine stuff.... No screens late at night or on waking. Switch them off overnight.

Have blackout blinds (ikea do them cheaply).

IamtheDevilsAvocado · 14/07/2018 19:55

My insomnia is terrible... But improves when I do basic stuff...

I often wake at 3 and then don't go back to sleep... I've existed on 2-4 hours sleep for years... It's shit... Anything you can do will help

DartfordBridge · 14/07/2018 19:55

I use a sleep mask

BumbleNova · 14/07/2018 19:58

Have you tried probiotics and prebiotics? I take a biokult tablet a day and a bimuno sachet with a herbal tea pre bed. The impact on my sleep after a couple of days in amazing. I've always been a terrible sleeper. Awake at 3 on the dot, then I worry about everything for a couple of hours. Not any more.

TeddyIsaHe · 14/07/2018 19:59

Try this hypnosis video. I think it might actually be magic! Dd wakes me in the night and I can be up for 2/3/4 hours trying to drift off again. This is the only thing that works.

NotAnotherHeffalump · 14/07/2018 20:01

Are you drinking alcohol during the day? It can affect your sleep, you get over to sleep quicker but then have a very restless sleep.

Are you moving about plenty during the day, getting lots of fresh air and exercise?

NotAnotherHeffalump · 14/07/2018 20:04

Don't exercise too close to bedtime though because that'll make it hard to get over.

I do a 6am crossfit class and since I've started I sleep like a baby. It also when I wake up at 5 I just get ready and head out the door. By 10/11 I'm truly exhausted and sleep through to the morning.

The only times I've struggled with sleep have been when I've

  • been drinking too much
-not been very active
  • been stressed and my mind has been on overdrive.

Exercise is also a great strss reliever.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 14/07/2018 20:06

I always found gentle exercise- Like a swim before bed helps me have a deep long sleep

ShiningWhit · 14/07/2018 20:09

Buteyko method this fixed me. Takes some trust but quite amazing.

bellinisurge · 14/07/2018 20:09

Light mornings and, I guess, more open even than usual windows don't help. Neither does heat. Look at blackout liners for your curtains.
I admit that I deal with sleeplessness by using my iPod and a familiar audio book. In fact a familiar bit of a familiar audio book. Sends me/bores me to sleep.

cliffdiver · 14/07/2018 20:12

This was me a couple of months ago.

I started taking Nytol one a night (50mg) for a month, then 25mg for another month, then half a 25mg.

Stopped a couple of weeks ago and my sleeps been okay since.

HOWEVER....

It may be because I'm staying up to watch Love Island Blush until 10am whereas I would usually go to bed at 9pm.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 14/07/2018 20:42

Light and heat aren’t the causes, I’ve been like it for years.

bellinisurge · 14/07/2018 20:49

Wait till you get to my age. If you get to 5 pm without needing to get up to the loo, you'll be doing well Sad

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 14/07/2018 20:52

5pm Confused

Much of mine is needing the loo but I’m still in my thirties.
