To lie about this?

I worked at my last job for 4 years but left last year due to health problems.

Since this, I have been out of work and recovering and now feel well enough to go back to work. I have an interview next week, but do I tell them the truth about taking time off due to illness, or can I lie about this and say something else?

Depends what the health problems were. Employers are wary of cancer related absences and even more wary of depression.

It was heart issues. It is now fully under control but at the time it was very bad.

Do not lie. Went through a period of ill health but now all well and glad to be able to put it behind you. Be enthusiastic and keen to work and raring to go.
