Sorry if this is totally clueless!

If I get vegan / vegetarian sweets - doesn't that automatically make them halal / kosher?

Yes. So long as they have no animal products in them = vegan = halal/kosher

MrsRedFly · 13/07/2018 17:32

Yes - no gelatine = vegetarian = also find for halal!

LaMainDeFatima · 13/07/2018 17:33

Yes ( just check no alcohol )

Although not sure about the kosher part . I think so . I was thinking it needed to be blessed but I think that’s just meat

Perfect, thanks!
Trying to find some halal vegan treats for my little lad to take to school on the last day = not easy! 🙈

Ah, that's sweet OP Smile

Doubt many people think about about this. The kids will be very happy I'm sure.

Not necessarily. Flavourings can use alcohol as a carrier. Factories may use alcohol based hand sanitisers or cleaning chemicals. This wouldn't stop the sweets being vegan, bit would affect the halal status.
There are websites that will tell you if the products are also halal as the factories can be certificated but not use the halal symbol on the packaging.
