AIBU that I think I am clearly weird!
The fan has been on because of the heat and I was struggling to sleep due to the fact I thought I could hear...... the ice cream man song.
Now, obviously the ice cream van doesn't drive around throughout the night so I thought I was imagining it.
I just googled and it is an actual thing.

  • musical ear syndrome-
The fan noise was making my ears think it was music, fascinating! Has anyone else experienced this? According to google it's quite common.

I've had it occasionally. Although I don't think it's happened because of something else making a noise. The few times it's happened I think I'm hearing a piece of, usually, classical music, but on a loop - if that makes sense? The first time it happened I thought it was one of the neighbours playing something - but going out to the garden (because that's where I thought the sound was coming from) and there's been no music from the neighbours.

It's only once in a blue moon though. I eventually realised it was an hallucination.

No, not really. But a while ago I was having a dream about being at a boxing match (why ever I did this, I do not really like boxing) and there were youth with ghetto blasters which made such an annoying music and it got more and more annoying, I told them to turn it off but they started dancing to it.... and I thought: funny sounds more and more like an alarm clock... and I woke and it WAS my alarm clock which I had integrated into my dreams.

Are ghetto blaster even allowed at boxing matches?

Ah that's quite lovely though, to hear classical music.
I like the thought of people dancing at a boxing match to an alarm clock though 😂
