To wonder how this effect is achieved

When I searched for Cedar Wood on Google, all the images give this uneven, stripe effect which I love.

When I visited a wood merchant today to enquire about cedar wood thinking this was a natural occurrence with cedar, he told me noone would be able to guarantee that effect. Surely that can't be right!? Is there a way to get this look from wooden cladding(aside from painting it!)

It needs to go directly onto OSB board or OSB covered with 1000 gauge polythene. We are able to DIY, hubby has tools and is handy but we are literally learning as we go. I'm not sure we could render onto this?
