To envy her

I have a female colleague who I’m ashamed to say I’m jealous of. She’s beautiful, funny and articulate.

The thing that frustrates me most is whenever she’s in a room, all the men in the office fight for her attention. I usually just deal with it but today I felt invisible. ALL of the conversation was either aimed at her or included her. This was in a group of 10 men and went on for about twenty minutes.

I’m just being ridiculous because she’s a great person. Just felt like venting as it’s starting to get me down in work. Im beginning to feel like the ugly duckling. Grin

Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Do you really want the attention of men like this?

I'm pretty sure you'll catch the eyes of more discerning men. The ones you describe are the ones to avoid!

There will always be someone more articulate, more beautiful, better qualifications, more fascinating, so there will always be comparison and envy, the thiefs of joy. Until, that is, you focus less on her and more on yourself. In that group of 10 men is at least one who feels how you do "she talks to all of us but I know sure prefers Brad". Who cares. Deep down these comparisons can eat away at you. So you don't command a room of these coworkers. What do You do well?

Are there other women in other offices you can become friends with?

ReHorsing · 12/07/2018 20:45

Can you offer her your friendship?

I'm sure you'll come to learn that she is a fully rounded human with flaws and insecurities like the rest of us. My most beautiful friends are not without their own trials and tribulations, and the envy fades away. Walking in somebody else's shoes isn't always sweet.

How long has she worked there?
