How do you know if you've got the job?

My son went for an interview today - really only person in for the job. The interview lasted one and a half hours, he met nearly everyone in the company and was shown what the job was, the wages, any bonuses, perks etc. He said it seemed to go well and the interview was very laid back and relaxed. They have said they will get back to him within the next few days. What do you think his chances are?

Impossible to say.

Last time I went for an interview I came in as the previous candidate ended his tour of the office, and the interviewer asked when he was available to start. I imagine he thought it had all gone very well.

I then got the job.

I've had it the other way round, where everything seemed to go fine and they seemed very interested, then I got a bland "Unfortunately, on this occasion..." email.

You just have to wait and see. There's no point going over it and trying to guess.

You know when you receive the contract & not before - bitter experience!!

I agree impossible to say. I had an interview recently where I was introduced to everyone in the company and shown every nook and cranny in the building. I wasn’t offered the job, came second apparently.

Oh dear, I was living in hope there. He is the only person in for the job - got the interview through a friend who works for the company. They haven't advertised post or anything but there is a vacancy.
