Aibu to be nervous about driving?

6.30 pm I am collecting my car after not driving for 10 years.
I've had refresher driving lessons and feel confident again but this is the first time driving alone without instructor.
The instructor never had to use her pedals or grab the wheel,it was all me yet I'm still nervous.
It's under 10 min drive and it's all streets with traffic lights not busy motorways.
I can do this can't I?
I'm nervous but very excited.
I've saved up for 2 years for this car, after moving into my new house and penny pinching etc.
Eeeek
Any tips to keep calm?

You aren’t alone! I’m nervous about driving and I’ve been doing it forever. I just think, quite illogically, that everyone is out to hit me. Worse since I got a new car too.

I suppose I’d say take deep breaths to calm yourself and familiarise yourself with the car and controls if you’re able before you drive it home. Mine is very different to the previous one and it’ll take me ages to work out how everything works. DH tells me that when I want to know something, to look in the manual just for that bit. Trying to read the whole thing is soul destroying.
