Any laptop/computer experts about?

I'm trying to update the graphics card on my laptop. The install started fine (via the AMD website) now my laptop has been stuck on a blank purple screen with just the mouse arrow thingy showing for over an hour. Should I hold the button to turn it off or will that corrupt the graphics as its still mid install? Or has it just crashed and that's my only choice? The little light at the front that says its thinking was on until about 10 minutes ago but now thats gone off too so its just sitting there all purple and broken 😣

There's no reason a graphics driver update would ever legitimately take an hour. It's definitely stuck, so you can't make it worse with a reboot!

restart, and hit the F8 key, you should come up with an option to come up in low resolution. If that works OK, then you know something has gone wrong with the driver update.

Thank you for replying! It was still stuck at 12.30 so i held the off button and restarted it, it started all fine and my install update thingy was complete. Stupid technology.
