Neighbours smoking weed

Hello people I need some advice. It's summer time and my neighbours seem to smoke weed more and more. I didn't used to have a problem but they smoke it in the garden at night and I can't open my 3 year olds window because of the smell. Her bedroom has been getting to 28 degrees and she's not sleeping because I can't opened the window to get air in. I do have a fan for her but it doesn't make much difference. We are in social housing and I know if I report them they will know its me and I don't want any trouble. I tried talking to them but they just laughed. Sorry for waffling on but need advice. X

I don't know the answer to the weed problem but to cool the room

Make some ice cubes and put in large bowl or even better fill a hot water bottle half way with water and a bit of salt, freeze it

Then put it either in front of or behind the fan - different people say one is better than another

Anyway, the air around the fan is cold so will cool the room down quite quickly - it really works but you might need to check it doesn't work too well iyswim

Open the windows when the sun isn't on them then close them when the sun is shining on them and close the curtains so the sun doesn't heat up the room

Report to whom?

Obviously the ice and hot water bottle and fan need to be out of reach of your little one

Get two large fans, have one blowing air out the window where the drug users are, another one facing inwards at another window to bring air in, and run them both at once.

You'll get a really good air flow to cool things down and the neighbours can't get their drugs in your child's lungs any more

Obviously pay attention to the safety concerns of open windows and wires.

Surely they aren’t smoking all night long? Open the windows when you go to bed.

If it’s that strong, I’d also politely tell them the truth and hope they are considerate enough to smoke at the end of the garden

Thank you all. Runmummyrun68 I have a housing officer that is really nice. The ice idea is really good. They sleep in the front room and have the windows open all night. They smoke it in the house and the garden. I don't have a problem in the winter but this is my first summer in the house.

I think either the staff at MN HQ are having a sneaky puff or something is really wrong with this thread

I’d ask them really nicely, I’m sure if they were aware they were making things uncomfortable for your child they would shift.

I feel your pain.

We had this issue and visitors to our door used to comment on the stench from next door but one. Our home constantly had the smell of weed.

I owned the house for 20 years and they were tenants of 2 years who had many friends constantly smoking. Then late night police visits. I put up with 2 years of the landlord not giving a shit and finally moved to somewhere quiet and smell free.

I know it is more difficult as you are in social housing but to warn you it is not taken seriously at all. You will get nowhere unfortunately.

I did not want it becoming the norm for my child so moved.

I lived in a flat where the residents on the ground floor constantly smoked weed and it was always making my flat above stink. They didn't care at all

I think you should film them and notify the police that they have been smoking. You can call crime stoppers and make an anonymous report
