We went to Duinrell, a Dutch theme park, last month and sat through several showings of the Kwakus Kwebbel show. It's an animatronic extravaganza featuring a mole with a lump on his head and an array of singing creatures trying to defend themselves against accusations that they are responsible for biting him. My kids LOVED the show to the extent that we have bought a CD of it, but I don't speak Dutch and cannot manage to work out who is responsible for Mollie the Mole's injury. Can anyone help? There is a Youtube vide of the show here if anyone feels inclined to try and solve this mystery:

And if you're looking for a fantastic family holiday, I can't recommend Duinrell enough - if you stay there, entry to the theme park is free and you also get discounted rates at the largest waterpark in BeNeLux which is on the same site. Plus robotic insects of course...

Mole has fleas and was probably bitten by one of them (one was spotted jumping from Mole’s head).

DD goes with the Youth Vacation Activities (JVA) to Duinrell for two weeks every summer, I drop her off at The Hague Central Station at 08:00 and pick her up at 15:30. For 65 euros per week it’s a steal and for low income families it’s half that. I’m not the biggest fan of theme parks (the Dutch are obsessed), which means DD gets gets her fix without me going, win win.

THANK YOU! This has been driving us batty - I can grasp about enough to catch keywords about insects and (inexplicably) tennis balls, but was getting increasingly agitated about the mysterious bite!

That programme sounds great, although I have to admit that I probably enjoyed the holiday as much as the kids as I persuaded my oldest to enjoy roller-coasters and the youngest to appreciate the benefits of lounging in the hot tub. And now, when we are singing along to Kwakus Kwebble, we will know how the whole thing played out - I will be forever grateful!

This is so random (and I’m sure I’m wrong) but is one of them singing about being a vegetarian? I can hear something that sounds like ‘ik ben’ then possibly a Dutch word that sounds like ‘vegetarian’.

Yes - it's a cricket defending herself against the accusations that she might have bitten the mole's head by singing about how she is a vegetarian! It's bizarrely catchy and I do find myself singing bits of them all after listening to it several times. I actually have the lyrics for all the songs (they have them up in the 'theatre') but not the in-between chat, hence the confusion over who was ultimately responsible.
