To find the showing off embarrassing?

Someone I met during an internship has extremely rich parents. She constantly posts photos of her huge house and swimming pool, sports car, holidays etc

Fact is she’s never had a job in her entire life.

I mean well done to her doctor parents and they are clearly hard working people (as are many people) but I just find showing off material things that you never bought yourself just a bit embarrassing?

I think you might be a touch envious...

Nicknacky · 08/07/2018 21:59

But it’s her life? If she had paid for it herself wouldn’t it still have been showing off?

BetterEatCheese · 08/07/2018 22:00

Is she showing off or just posting pics of her life? I suppose it depends how she is talking about it all too.

KC225 · 08/07/2018 22:00

How old is she?

Stop looking, block or unfollow?

Moominfan · 08/07/2018 22:02

I think it's the norm for people to share a lot online. Not so much a show off thing

rainbowfudgee · 08/07/2018 22:03

How did you meet her through an internship if she doesn't work?

It's a bit vulgar but no big deal.

MadMags · 08/07/2018 22:03

How green are you, OP?!

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 08/07/2018 22:03

This is why you should only follow people you really like/love. That way you're happy for them when they get new stuff or fancy houses.

JohnsonsSpreadsheet · 08/07/2018 22:07

If she has never had a job how did you meet her on an internship then?

so She's a rich kid... like or block .. neither will option will change her lifestyle... Flowers

Butterflycookie · 08/07/2018 22:37

I wouldn’t worry about it. They just want others to feel jealous and bad about themselves. Most people on Instagram show off.....I find it rather tasteless. Shock

BlancheM · 08/07/2018 22:40

She isn't showing off, that's just her life. She knows no different.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 08/07/2018 23:19

Well to me she's got nothing to show off about. . I bet she's the first to call benefit claimants yet she's sponging off her parents. At least most benefit claimants have paid into the system.
At least my modest car and home is down to my own hard work.

giveusanamechange · 09/07/2018 09:42

I know what you mean but it's hard to post anything without showing off.

On holiday - bragging
Cute baby - obsessed
New car - showing off
Out for the night - going on about it
New handbag - flouncing it

I have friends from all walks of life on Facebook and some have amazing experiences - that I certainly can not afford. I don't want their lives but I would like to be able to afford to do want I want.

So yeah I'm jealous in a way too, but sometimes it is a bit ott

giveusanamechange · 09/07/2018 09:43

*what I want

So she's posting pictures of her life? Isn't that the point of Instagram (regardless of who paid for it?)

Unfollow her if you don't like it. She can post nice pictures of what's going on as everybody does, it's not "showing off" just because her things are more likely to be expensive.

Ivorbig1 · 09/07/2018 10:18

Stop looking.
