To not wear a suit?

I have a job interview this week. Planning on wearing white blouse, black pencil skirt and black shoes. It's forecast for high 20's so I'm likely to be roasting in anything else. I currently don't have a suit jacket. Being short means I'm limited in choices and price range. Plus I doubt I'd have much use for it after the interview.

Should I wear a suit or not?

How formal is the blouse?

Whoops posted too soon. If it’s three quarter or long sleeves, pin tucks or dress shirty, I think it will look fine. If it’s sleeveless or short sleeved, I think it will look like you forgot your jacket.

I’ve got an interview tomorrow and I’m not wearing the suit jacket. Wide leg airy trousers and a smart, crisp short sleeved blouse. I’ll be exchanging my heels for sliders the second I go in and come out too. Go jacketless without a doubt.

Good luck! X

What's the standard in the industry you're applying for? I'm guessing if you won't have any use for it in the job (if you get it!) after the interview, a certain 'look', other than reasonably smart, isn't critical?

Depends on the sort of interview. I've never owned a suit and have never struggled to get a job.

It's public sector. My choice of clothing for the interview is standard for what I'd be wearing in the job. It's a short sleeved blouse rather than shirt. I did have a sleeveless one I wanted to wear but thought it wouldn't be appropriate without a jacket.

I've always worn jackets to interviews previously, always in public sector. I've just not done an interview since having my kids so binned my old one!
