Beach bums

Enjoying the hot weather at our local beach today and naturally it was full of families having a great time.
As families began to pack up and go the kids were being dressed.
I was rather taken aback to see a small boy about 5 suddenly stick his bare bum in the air while his mother squirted drinking water from a bottle into his bum to clean it (presumably from sand.)
Is this a new cleaning routine?
I get that sand can be uncomfortable but I did think this was a bit over the top!

I would find that hilarious!!

I have no idea... I wonder if it’s something they do as standard, or whether this time, her DS was complaining of an uncomfortable bum crack?

21jumpstreet · 08/07/2018 18:22

It’s genius!! I will remember that one!

CarcerDun · 08/07/2018 18:31

What's the AIBU?

Seems pretty normal to me. Would hate to spend time in a car in the heat travelling home with a 5year old with sand in his bum.

LakieLady · 08/07/2018 18:33

Best thing for getting sand off skin is talc! It dries the skin out and the sand falls off.

TheMonkeyMummy · 08/07/2018 18:36

And....???

ApolloniaC · 08/07/2018 18:38

I did the same to my 3 yo. The beach showers had a long queue! We carry those huge chunky bottles so we can do this.

FatCow2018 · 08/07/2018 18:39

Hahaha excellent! Perhaps the child is used to a bidet at home?! 😂 a 20 stone bloke doing it might raise an eyebrow, but its a child, whats the problem?!

AnyFucker · 08/07/2018 18:41

Is there a problem here ?

NoelHeadbands · 08/07/2018 18:41

That’s a great idea, I’ll use this next week when we go on holiday.

It’s just me and DH going Grin

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 08/07/2018 18:41
Hmm
Racecardriver · 08/07/2018 18:42

Raised in Australia (lots of time spent at sandy beaches). Never saw this. You could wash as much off in the sea/the shower and then just rubb the sand off your feet as best you could on the grass. You would still need a proper shower when you got home though.

HappyLollipop · 08/07/2018 18:47

That's actually genius and hilarious! I must remember this for when trying to rinse sand off from hard to reach places, honestly I don't see the problem here apart from the mother probably could have done it somewhere a bit more private.

PinkHeart5914 · 08/07/2018 18:56

Tbh having sand in your bum crack isn’t nice!

His 5 like it matters, if she was washing her 18 year old ds bum I’d be Hmm but his 5

worlybear · 08/07/2018 20:13

Just surprised to see this happening on a packed beach!

Oh dear, you sound quite the precious flower. It's a childs bum ffs.

GobblersKnob · 08/07/2018 20:37

Haha I would do that, have done similar to a tiny DD when she had an uncomfortably sandy area. It's just a kids bum, why are we so wierd about bodies?

BastardGoDarkly · 08/07/2018 20:40

I've done it when mine were little. So what?

(talc is way better though)

ConfessionsOfTeenageDramaQueen · 08/07/2018 20:40

As pp said above - talc is much more effective than water for sandy bums and everywhere else

Ethylred · 08/07/2018 20:52

Cool! In every way.

onalongsabbatical · 08/07/2018 20:57

Aww, he's five, who wants a scratchy bum journey home at five? Squirty water is inspired!
