Yes, another football one!

I admit I am not a football fan but yes I understand that lots of people are, that lots of people are enthused by it and that it is exciting for the team to have got to the giddy heights of the semi finals, will maybe even get to the final and possibly could win it.

I have had to reorganise an event that was supposed to happen at the same time as the semi final on Wednesday and that is ok, I understand that it's important, but ye gods-the emails before I did that were unreal! Full of it being a once in a lifetime opportunity and that we will never see this again! Are they really saying that the England football team are that crap that although they think they might win this time that they will die before they win again?

AIBU to think they are talking shit at the once in a lifetime shit?

For me, once in a lifetime experiences are stuff like visiting Sydney opera house or seeing my child in their reception nativity (third sheep!) Those are once in a lifetime as there is no chance of them being repeated!

I’m a neutral watching the World Cup but I believe that England haven’t reached a semi final in 28 years, so actually it is a once in a lifetime thing.

They haven’t won a World Cup since 1966 and this is the closest they’ve got in almost 30 years (I think they’ll at least get to the final) so I can see why people are getting so excited.
