One ball left in after castration?

Posting in AIBU for traffic...

Dog was castrated 2 weeks ago.
Been back three times to check swelling and each time given antibiotics.
On feeling scrotum it appears that one side is non-existent, whereas the other side there is a substantial solid mass. I would not describe the mass as a swelling.
Is it possible that the vet has only removed one ball?

Has anyone else had similar?

It's probably a haematoma - hard blood collection from a leaky vessel. One of my cats had one. I think they count them on the way out !!

Veterinary nurse here....Both testicles are always removed when castrating. If one was left in for any reason (incredibly unlikely) they would have told you. Post op some animals get a seroma (collection of fluid) around the op site which can be very large and hard sometimes. It eventually goes away and is the body reacting to the incision and suture material. Keep him well rested and stop him bothering the area as this can make it worse.

My dogs scrotum swelled after castration so much that he looked 'larger' than before for several weeks Shock.
