Wimbledon/World Cup Wednesday!!!

Friend and I due to be going to Wimbledon Wednesday, known about for months. Friend is also MASSIVE football fan, obviously I've known about that for years!
She has just text me saying if I can find someone else to go with her to the tennis on Wed that would suit her - v nice text v sorry etc but once in a generation game etc - and she will forefit money, so basically someone else would get to go for free. She's been to Wimbledon multiple times including finals, so understand that for her it's not going to be one of the best days of her life!
I prob could find someone but was looking forward to going with said friend so AIBU to be a bit annoyed whilst understanding her dilemma?!
WWYD? All very confused and conflicted - don't want to fall out/make her do something she doesn't want to do but interested to know what you think.

You are not being unreasonable i would be annoyed too!

LakieLady · 07/07/2018 20:27

I think I should come with you!

I haven't been since I was at school. I'm nearly 63!

But yeah, I'd be a bit miffed.

Cheguevarahamster · 07/07/2018 20:28

Yanbu to be annoyed. Surely she can come with you and watch most of the day. She can always go home or to pub early to watch the footie.
Oh I haven't been to Wimbledon for ages. Jealous.

blibblibs · 07/07/2018 20:28

I'll come with you 😁
It's annoying but you won't have a good day if she ends up going under duress.
I would try and find someone else to go with who will enjoy it as much as you, but to be honest I would also just go on my own, but Wimbledon is a bucket list thing for me.

NewYearNewMe18 · 07/07/2018 20:33

If I were you're friend, I'd go to Wimbledon, leave at 3 to go to the pub to watch the football, then go back to Wimbledon.

Sorry but the football is a once in a lifetime thing, Wimbledon is every year. The only exception I'd make is if that nice Roger Federer was batting some balls about. Have we got anyone still in likely to win Wimbledon?

Sixgeese · 07/07/2018 20:44

DH and I are going to Wimbledon on Wednesday too, I thought the football was 7pm. Not sure what DH is planning on doing.

megletthesecond · 07/07/2018 20:45

The football is 7 isn't it?

MirandaWest · 07/07/2018 20:47

The footballs on at 7. Alrhough play at Wimbledon is still going on at the moment; if I were going to Wimbledon (been once) I’d still be there as long as play were going on

tactum · 07/07/2018 20:59

Yes footie at 7. We're on a show court so play doesnt start until 1 and we live 2.5 hours away! So really couldn't go, experience tennis and be back home for 7!!
Am thinking maybe try and find a pub near Wimbledon that's showing it, but am fairly certain to get a decent view we'll need to have been there well before that!
As I say I understand the dilemma completely, and don't mind fiitball myself, just don'e know what to do!

We are Centre Court, if DH wants to leave really early I won't be impressed as the tickets cost the earth. He is muttering about asking my parents to have the DC longer and getting home really late.

He has just hit me with we have tickets (which he booked, and I really not bothered about going to) taking my DP and the DC to the athletics at the Olympic Park the following Sunday which is the World Cup final, so I might have to take our DDs, DP by myself while he watches the match with DS.

BackforGood · 07/07/2018 21:27

Well, all you have to do is find someone who wants a free day out at Wimbledon.
I wouldn't have thought that would be too difficult ?
