Can you swap oil for butter?

I have Googled this but can’t get conclusive answer so I am shamelessly posing here Blush

I have a cake recipe where you use Sunflower Oil instead of butter and it makes the cake really moist.

Can you do this with all cakes does anyone know - and if so what would the quantity be?

TIA

No, not all cakes. But some you can - carrot cake is one, in fact it's better with oil. With some things where it's melted butter you can swap for oil on a 1:1 basis.

If it is a cream the butter and sugar recipe together - NO
Melted butter ones - no problem, as Wellthis says, it is often better with oil.

Ahhhh thank you so much!!

Yes the one I make is a carrot cake - so I weigh the oil? Confused

Use a measuring jug This converts oz to ml

Suppose you want g > ml

Weighing also works
