I'm sick of milk leaking in the fridge. Obviously fine when stood upright, but why does it always leak when the bloody stuffs lying down. I always check by turning it over beforehand, and nothing leaks, but guaranteed when i open the fridge it's been leaking. Am i doing something wrong? Confused and Angry

It baffles me too. Put lid on, check it’s secure, tip milk upside down and none leaks. Put it in fridge on it’s side. Next time I check it’s dripped everywhere!!! Argh

TheMaddHugger · 06/07/2018 12:22

No idea why. We only solved this by wrapping kitchen wrap around the top... THEN putting the lid back on.

It's a mystery isn't it. Why doesn't any come out when you tip it upside down. Small problem in the big scheme of things but very annoying.

I’m sure there is an easy solution to this problem somewhere......

Use fridge door shelf surely?

HairDyedPink · 06/07/2018 13:17

No idea, but I always keep the milk upright for that reason. I know you are not supposed to keep the milk in the door, because it doesn't keep it cool enough, but we have survived for years - possibly decades - without food poisoning so I'll keep doing it!

dementedpixie · 06/07/2018 13:23

Ours is kept upright in the door too

steff13 · 06/07/2018 13:23

Is there reason why you don't stand it upright in the fridge?

ILoveMyDressingGown · 06/07/2018 13:33

If it's not sealed I think it slowly seeps around the thread and put of the lid. Prop it up a bit so it's not completely flat and the milk isn't gathering around near the lid if you can't store it upright in the door.

BarbaraofSevillle · 06/07/2018 13:39

I do the same as DressingGown. Milk only lies down if there's no room in the door but if it has to go in the main part of the fridge, I always make sure it is resting on a block of cheese or similar so the milk is below the top of the bottle and then it doesn't leak.

Buster72 · 06/07/2018 13:40

The bottles are a low grade plastic with a bad seal so milk slowly drips out.

rosesgarden · 06/07/2018 14:42

Usually do have them upright but sometimes have a water jug in the door taking up all the room.
