No, it's a normal 'disgust' response (same sort of thing can occur with vomit) - probably an evolved protective reflex.

You need to make sure the bin lid is properly closed so flies can't get in, and probably avoid putting any waste in which flies may have had access to to lay eggs in. Maggots don't generate spontaneously.

Why would reaching at maggots be unreasonable? Are you worried your response hurt their feelings?
