I work in hospitality recently we had lots of team leave & new start.
It's very very quiet in the restaurant & bar (literally whole days with just 2 tables & a few coffees) area apart from the odd planned booking. Where as on housekeeping it's very very busy. Hotel full all the time spread over 3 floors no lift. There is lots of heavy lifting & carrying working fast & to a deadline.
In the past I have had support but recently all the new staff hired has been for the restaraunt/bar. Last week after coming down to find 5 people standing around downstairs doing nothing & being refused help I told my colleagues how we are supposed to be a team & if quiet send people yo help. Yesterday I found out my boss has hired yet another person for restaurant area. Imo it's not needed aibu to ask my boss to think about the man power needed in cleaning of the hotel & not just the front of house.
Just so you understand the numbers there are now 1 full & 1 partime housekeeping
& 5 reception/restaurant managers & 6 front of house assistants hardly any who help clean
