I'm learning to drive, and I've just thinking about the first car I'll buy. Would love to hear your opinions on a good spacious first car?

I'll also have three car seats in the back Blush

Something cheap and easy to insure .

Avoid a Renault scenic like the plague .

Toyota Aygo. Very easy to park, nippy, 5 doors and scores well in the Which safety tests.

The Fiat 500 looks cute but is apparently shit when it comes to performance in crash tests.

I think your options are going to be governed by what car you can fit 3 car seats in rather than what’s best for a new driver.

Search for threads on here asking for recommendations for cars which fit 3 car seats as your start point.

Toyota Argo won't fit 3 car seats in the back, it's only 'technically' got 2 seats behind there and there's no seatbelt for the middle 'seat'. Good car tho Grin

Vauxhall corsas are good ones or aygos if you can manage the gear stick!

ISeeTheLight · 05/07/2018 14:24

I don't think you can fit 3 car seats in the back in most minis (fiesta et al). You're probably best off looking at a small MPV eg Bmax/Cmax/Meriva type. I find Fords very easy to drive and they're cheap to get fixed.

Pretty sure you would struggle to put 3 car seats in the back of a fiat 500!

If you have 3 car seats in the back I'm assuming you need good boot space too? I think all the usual first cars are going to be out of the picture!

Citroen Picasso might suit you? they Seem to be popular with people with 3 or more children. I always think if a cars popular there's probably a good reason for it!

I had a Fiat Panda as my first car and absolutely loved it. Cheap to run and insure - but I'm sure you wouldn't be able to get three car seats in the back!
