To not go to retirement do

JennyBlueWren · 05/07/2018 08:27

This afternoon is my boss's retirement do. I'm currently on maternity leave and have left it open whether I'm going.

For going: see colleagues, feel I ought to

Against: I don't particularly like boss, it involves a bus journey or bike ride, need to express milk, feeling a bit off

So should I make myself go when I know I'll probably enjoy it or stay home with baby? I just don't feel like I want to go.

I wouldn’t go if you don’t like your boss, just say if anyone asks baby wasn’t feeling so well so you wanted to keep an eye on them

If you like your colleagues and haven't seen them much, I'd go. If you're not fussed about them and you dislike your boss as stated, don't go.

It's a good opportunity to catch up with work colleagues. You only need to wish him luck. I would go in your shoes.

I wouldn't. It's fine not to. Arrange a KIT day to see colleagues and meet the new boss later on if you want to.

Thanks for the advice. I was in last Friday and might be in next week too. Struggling to express milk this morning as baby is drinking lots in the heat so that's probably decided it.

I'd go just to keep in contact with colleagues and show your face.
