I live on quite a busy road with some parking restrictions. We have a driveway that takes 3 cars (daughters, DP’s and mine). Currently having some work done on house so have a skip on drive and tradesman needs his van in drive while working so he can access his tools etc. We’ve parked DD’s car on our lawn and I’ve been parking mine on the main road.
There is a family across the road from us who are known for being quite intimidating although the mum is really lovely. I’m parked on the main road outside their house. They have a driveway which can fit 6 cars but I noticed that the “dad” quite often parks on the road instead.
Today I finished early and parked my car on street as workmen still here. 30 minutes later loud banging on door and here was “dad from across the road” shouting at me to “move my f*ing car”. Very calmly I asked him why and got told “he parks there”. I did point out it’s a public road and I wasn’t blocking his dropped kerb. He stormed off effing and jeffing.
I haven’t moved my car as I don’t see why I should. OH thinks I should as another neighbour parked there last year and came out to 4 slashed tyres in the morning.
AIBU to think someone needs to stand up to bullies?

Depends if you want the hassle of 4 slashed tyres I guess! I personally wouldn’t move my car either. Do you have the ability to point a camera at that location? So if/when he does something to your car you have evidence that it was him. I’m presuming once the workman goes you could move your car back on your drive? Say around midnight just before you go to bed 😂

YANBU.

TaleasoldasTimee · 04/07/2018 18:36

I'd call 101 and log it with then. Say an aggressive man has approached you and threatened to damage the car if you don't move it. He might not have said that but at least you've covered your back if he does damage your car!

icelollycraving · 04/07/2018 18:40

Ah the legendary 101 log.

icelollycraving · 04/07/2018 18:43

A few ways to think of it. By standing up to him, you may come out to slashed tyres. Do you want the hassle?
On the other hand, he’s a twat and gets what he wants by being aggressive. I’d probably tell him I have a really good dash cam that streams to your laptop so you’re hoping that you aren’t going to come out to the same result.
Good luck!

Wonkydonkey44 · 04/07/2018 18:46

I wouldn’t move either , he sounds lovely!

babyno5 · 04/07/2018 18:55

I’ve got the dash cam pointed to the kerb so he’d be pretty stupid to do anything.
But there again let’s just say he proves Darwin’s theory!

There has to be a diagram, it's the MN law.

itsbritneybiatch · 04/07/2018 19:07

If he slashes your tyres you can't move your car can you?!

starzig · 04/07/2018 19:17

Can you nip out (in another car), buy a cheap camera and set it up?

PickwickThePlockingDodo · 04/07/2018 19:23

Well I wouldn't move it at all, cheeky sod, who does he think he is? Angry

YearOfYouRemember · 04/07/2018 19:27

Don't be ring the police and says he's made a threat when he hasn't.

Some stupid people about.

AhNowTed · 04/07/2018 19:27

No fucking way would I move my car.

WhatDidItSay · 04/07/2018 19:28

So you think the op should lie to the police? There is no such thing as just logging it. Threats to cause criminal damage is an offence that the police would have to investigate. Which could then back fire on the op and she could be dealt with for wasting police time.

Floridasunset · 04/07/2018 19:51
