Partner sticking up for me

My partners parents are opinionated people and always try to tell us how to raise our 8 month old even though they have never taken care of her because I dont trust them since his mum doesnt seem to take care of her and his dad disregards my rules and tries to feed her things that he knows I won't like. Question is, do you think it's wrong for him to be straight forward and stick up for me when he's had enough of their derogatory comments towards me everytime we see them? They are no longer talking now and since they are a close family this is not how they usually are.

So often we read posts where the poster is told she has a DP/DH problem when she is being bulldozed; this DP is willing to "have your back" when it's all gone on long enough, although he's tried to keep things friendly for the sake of family harmony. Sounds like you've got a keeper there! They're probably not talking because they're shocked at being called on their unkind behaviour. If they come round, I'm sure you will both be gracious. If they don't, enjoy the peace (but I bet the desire to see your lovely little dd will have a bearing on their behaviour)

Thanks twoshedsjackson. Yes he actually once thought I was being a bit dramatic with the way I react but we have a family group chat going and she said something that we both thought was quite demeaning towards me and I sent a private message saying how hurt I was so that's when he finally realised that they are hopefully unintentionally saying something that I think is hurtful.
But its actually getting to the point where when they do come over to see her which about once a week,I get anxiety and think "what are they going to do now to tick me off"...
