To be fuming, and have wanted a replacement?

I treated myself to a breakfast wrap from McDonald's this morning.

I was half way through when I noticed two dark pubic hairs on the wrap!

Understandably, these things happen so I just took it to the till and told the woman serving.

She said "Let me get my manger".

She and another colleague were laughing about it and saying I'd placed two eyelashes on the wrap Shock They were being very loud and lots of customers were behind in clear ear shot.

So next the manager ushers me over to the side and asks to speak to me.

She said these aren't hairs, these are eyelashes. And the wrap has been bitten into so it wasn't from the kitchen. She said she sees these get made and they're not what they look like.

I said well they aren't my eyelashes. She said really, are you sure?

I said yes, and my eyelashes aren't that dark. She was very Hmm and said "and I suppose you think mine are since I'm black".

I said I wasn't accusing anyone in particular, I'm just saying that hair or eyelashes, mine aren't that dark so they certainly don't belong to me.

She was all very raised eyebrow and she then said "Well I don't know what you want done about it, this wasn't us so there's nothing I can do"

I said do you have the number for head office?

She said if you really want it you can find it online.

AIBU to be cross and have expected a bloody replacement?!

Quite revolting. Take photos, write to head office.

HomeTimeByeBye · 04/07/2018 10:28

She kept the wrap so I can't take any photos of it Envy

Complain the head office, will all be on cctv and threaten local social media if they do not send you a refund. That is grim behaviour from them and you need to stop them doing it to other people.

werideatdawn · 04/07/2018 10:31

Ew. Strange for McDonald's, OH worked there for years and they were always told to just replace the food even when customers were clearly taking the piss.

SoftBallSophie · 04/07/2018 10:34

They charged you for a wrap and then confiscated it from you? Did not give your money back and offered no replacement?

laurG · 04/07/2018 10:36

They should have replaced it straight away, so yanbu

I doubt the accusation of them being pubic hairs sent down too well though. How you know they were public hairs? Much more likely to be from someone’s head.

That's correct

I didn't mention to her what type of hair it could've been. I just said hairs and then hairs or eyelashes when it was brought into contexts of the conversation

Hmm
Imfinehowareyou · 04/07/2018 10:52

That's horrible, both finding the hairs and the staff reaction. McDonald's usually just replace anything even if it was your fault eg. dropping your drink. Definitely complain to head office. Hope you got a nicer breakfast elsewhere.

FatBarry · 04/07/2018 11:02

Eyelashes and pubes don't look the same, I think it was probably dropped.

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 04/07/2018 11:04

That's vile and disgusting and I think you should take this further. The fact that they hung on to it is not a problem. If you contact their HO straight away I think they could question the branch about their shocking customer service.

KFC DS had a long hair in his fillet burger. We rang HO and they said yes take it back next time you're passing and I got a refund for the whole meal (2 meals for me and him) and two Krushems as an apology.

What ever the hairs they had no place in your wrap and their suggestion that they were yours is unbelievably shit.

RevRichardWayneGaryWayne · 04/07/2018 11:06

Eye lashes are hairs aren't they?! misses the point
I'd be upset too, it sure is be wanting a replacement from that kitchen though!

peachescariad · 04/07/2018 11:09

Unfortunately, without any evidence, all you'll get back from HO is a standard complaints letter reply and possibly a voucher to cover cost of the wrap. Ex EHO here.
Never give back the evidence.
MacDonalds are not without fault, but they do have very robust and stringent due diligence procedures.
Still worth a letter though.

SoftBallSophie · 04/07/2018 11:22

You need to complain to head office, this is the second thread I've read recently about bad service and rude staff at McDonald's.

This goes against what they stand for and they need to do better.

abigailsnan · 04/07/2018 11:29

That manager certainly never came top in her customer service revues did she?

IdLikeABiscuitPlease · 04/07/2018 11:34

McDonalds have completely replaced a meal for me because they didn't add something I wanted!

This woman was just being a dick

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 04/07/2018 11:39

Wtf is wrong with some people. This happened to me many years ago, Guy I was with found a short black hair in his burger about half way through. Apparently we planted it there, despite him being blond, my hair long and curly and the third person completely bald!

On the other hand, our local replaced a drink I dropped through sheer clumsiness and have been nothing but accommodating when rectifying a mistake or issue.

I’d complain. Honestly what did the manager think would happen if she replaced one friggin wrap?!

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 04/07/2018 14:55

They deliberately kept the evidence - I think that puts them in a more unfavourable light. If there was nothing wrong with it why did they keep it?

Rebecca36 · 04/07/2018 15:41

She should have replaced the wrap straight away. Very bad customer services, I'm surprised.

I hope you take this further.
