To think this company is unprofessional

Around a year ago, I was called for an "informal chat" for a director role at a company. I went through the full round of interviews, which including travel (which I paid for) and at the end of it they said they would like to move to offer but they would want to see if they could do it in the new year as that's when their budgets were signed off.

I was happy with that as I am in a permanent role currently (and was at the time), but the new year has come and gone and I have heard nothing.

I emailed to enquire and they said they still can't move to offer as they "don't have a role for the type of salary" I am looking for, but they do have a number of managers' role I could be considered for? I was going to reply with a rude/offensive message but refrained. I am thinking of not replying but AIBU to think they are a bunch of cowboys/time wasters and should be ridiculed all over LinkedIn? (I can't be bothered to do it but still).

What should I reply?

Dont bother. There loads of companies like this. Dh is still waiting 6-7 years for someone to get back to him. Hes a solictor and this firm is in in the top 10. No idea if he got the job or not. Lol. If they bothered to contact him he informed them sadly he was offered another job with another firm not in the top 10 a day later.
