In a suitcase you haven’t used for a while? In a box in the loft?

yawning801 · 03/07/2018 20:01

There was a find-the-missing-item thread a few days ago and the item ended up being in the fruit bowl.

Go through all of your jewellery boxes. Put a bit of paper over the inhaling bit of the hoover (correct terminology needed) and secure with a rubber band, then "hoover" under beds, furniture etc. Check in all bags, kid's bags, etc. Garden?

Silverstreaks · 03/07/2018 20:02

Sock drawer.

GaspingGekko · 03/07/2018 20:03

Old jewellery box? Do you have any ring / necklace boxes? Try them.
Underwear drawer - we have a wedding ring in an envelope in an underwear drawer.
Bathroom drawers? Shoe boxes filled with bits and pieces under the bed?
That's all I have right now. Good luck.

2 bed flat no garden or loft - about to commence search

OP posts:
BettyBaggins · 03/07/2018 20:04

Where have you looked already?

JamPasty · 03/07/2018 20:05

Pockets of clothes you've not worn in a while. Caught up in clothes in the wardrobe - take everything out and shake it, then check the bottom of the wardrobe.

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 03/07/2018 20:06

Do you have children? One of my sils lost hers when she was rooting around in a toy box. It just fell off.

You didn’t put it somewhere safe did you? Worst place to put anything! You’ll never see it again.

Almostthere15 · 03/07/2018 20:06

Can you borrow a metal detector, it's narrow down the search (you could ask on local forums to you)?

Where do you normally put 'important stuff', that might give you a clue?

Xmasfairy86 · 03/07/2018 20:07

Start at the door. And comb EVERY inch, every space possible!!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 03/07/2018 20:08

A dvd box...a box of photos....amongst folded blankets.....plant pot

BeeNicer · 03/07/2018 20:08

I lost a precious ring for 3 years then found it inbetween the lining of a wash bag! Was overjoyed to have it back. Don't give up hope, OP x

freecoffeeforyou · 03/07/2018 20:09

Dp either took it out of the box which the engagement ring came in also, before he proposed. Or he took them both together to the proposal. Either way. It's all his fault!!!
Yes I have 2 small pests.

mavismcruet · 03/07/2018 20:09

Toilet bag? I found mine in one that I’d taken away overnight. Tucked into an inside pocket. Hope you find it x

freecoffeeforyou · 03/07/2018 20:10

Dp now thinks it may be at the jewellers we bought it from?!

OP posts:
lancslass17 · 03/07/2018 20:10

I would put something like this in
Bedside drawer
Where I keep memory cards etc
In a concertina file with important papers (think passports)
Jewelry drawer (sure you have looked here)
Check all handbags and coat pockets (my gran lost a bracelet we found it in a cardigan pocket after she had passed)

KarinVogel · 03/07/2018 20:11

I had a bit of success with dowsing when searching for an envelope with cash in it.
I used a crystal on a necklace and suspended it over a floor plan of the house. I gave up quickly as it didnt give me anything certain - it kept indicting yes to the stairs which was obviously wrong. Pity I didn't pursue it with bigger plans of the area as when I finally found the envelope it was at the bottom of the laundry basket which lived....yes you've got it - under the stairs!
Worth a go at least I think.

TheMagnificentEthel · 03/07/2018 20:13

Put a pair of tights over the nozzle part of a hoover. Go down the sides of the bed sofa cracks.

AuditAngel · 03/07/2018 20:15

In the pocket of a handbag (that's where my list passport was hiding)

PavlovianLunge · 03/07/2018 20:20

If you don’t want to wait until the jeweller is open in the morning, look under everything that isn’t nailed down; beds, chairs, tables, everything. Look in everything that can have smaller things inside, including pockets.

Good luck.

Pray to Saint Anthony

Rebecca36 · 03/07/2018 21:30

In a kitchen drawer? Or even bathroom cabinet?

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 03/07/2018 21:42

I once found an earring that I thought had fallen out at school, on top of DS2's clothes for the next morning.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 03/07/2018 21:46

Oh, and recently DS2's baby tooth, which we thought he'd dropped in the school playground, fell out of his jumper that night as he was getting ready for his bath.
