I started a new job now that long ago, and within days I knew it was very different to anywhere I've ever worked before. There's a micromanagement culture and it seems everyone's small or bigger life events are shared with the whole office, and if you're more of an independent, private person you're a viewed as a bit of a weirdo.

Every single thing I do is scrutinised and/or picked up on. I have diagnosed anxiety so this is terrible for me. It's not just work, although that's bad enough.

For example, the other day I forgot to wear my wedding and engagement ring to work, I don't wear then all the time as I take it them while showering etc. This was noticed, and several people asked me if I was okay in a really concerned tone. I soon twigged that was the reason. The boss then asked me herself if there were problems. It was literally one day!

I keep getting told I am quiet today, told I look sad, etc etc, and I just hate it. It's just me, I'm just getting on with my life/job. Some of the questions I get asked are downright nosey, such as questions about my relationship, when I am going to have children, etc etc.

Maybe it's just my anxiety, but I hate this constant scrutiny and being checked up on. AIBU?

No - but to be honest; if the whole culture is like that, you might be better looking to move on. Holding your own is absolutely fine but if that's not possible due to your anxiety; I'd be looking for somewhere less "involved".

Anywhere i work i completely keep myself to myself, no work nights out and barely speak to anyone. I have autism and agoraphobia and anxiety (you name it) but people have to find me odd and insist on making it about themselves. YANBU. If you're a private person or a bit mental like me, work place environments can be horrible. Everyone needs to go to work but everyone doesn't always want all the politics that goes with it! This probably isn't much help....!

It just sounds like a caring environment. Work friends. I couldn’t be doing with being micromanaged task wise though
