Daughter has just watched that bit for the first time. Apparently even though there was room on the door for both he should have pushed her off to save himself as she was annoying 🙂

Mythbusters did this a few years ago. Apparently, they would both have fitted but their combined weights would have made the door sink enough that they would both have died (while floating) of hypothermia, unless they had though to attach Rose's lifejacket underneath the door, in which case it would have kept them both out of the water.

Yeah I read that about the weight being the issue.. It tips up once already so surely if been a case of keeping trying they'd frozen.

Or......she could have stayed in the lifeboat, he could have used the door and got rescued and then they could have lived happily ever after
