To be grumpy because I can't find my Kindle?

I downloaded some great books last week and now can't find my Kindle.

Last seen inside my tent when camping on Sunday morning. Took the tent down, no recollection of where I put it. Had 3 potential bags for it: small suitcase of clothes, bag of dog stuff and bag of bedding. All checked, shaken out, clothing and bedding has been through washing machine now. No sign of kindle.

It's not in the car. It's not at the campsite (parents are still there). It wasn't stolen out the tent - am absolutely certain of this, I've definitely done something stupid with it.

If you were my Kindle, where would you be?

Could it have been folded up in with the tent?

daisychicken · 30/06/2018 19:02

In the packed up tent?

daisychicken · 30/06/2018 19:03

Snap Plump82 😁

That's was supposed to be a Grin!

StayGoldPonyBoy · 30/06/2018 19:04

YANBU. I was grumpy this morning because I left mine at home and couldn’t read on the bus so I think you’re allowed to be.

No idea where yours could be hiding though! Any side pockets in the tent or tent bag?

SilverHairedCat · 30/06/2018 19:05

Checked tent, it's not there, but I suppose I ought to check again!!

I'd be more than grumpy if I lost my Kindle. I'd be lost without it.

Hope yours turns up soon

SilverHairedCat · 30/06/2018 19:06

I misplaced it for 3 weeks last month. That really peed me off. I'm all out of paper books after that experience as well!

Another one that would be more than grumpy if my Kindle was awol. Can you remember the last time you saw it and try to work from there? As a last resort could you sync some books to your phone using the Kindle app? I've been known to do this when finding myself with an unexpected wait somewhere.

SadTrombone · 30/06/2018 19:53

I'm grumpy because I've lost my Fire TV stick... perhaps there's someone going around stealing Amazon devices to drive us all to grumpiness?! Shock

PatchworkGirl · 30/06/2018 19:55

No! I get ridiculously grumpy when I lose something I'm reading. And when my Kindle has no charge (because I forgot to charge it).

Ginnotginger · 30/06/2018 20:04

My sympathies OP, my kindle is also awol but I have found my old sony ereader and have found a few books I never got round to reading, so bonus! Agree with Fintrtess re using your phone - I end up doing that a lot as my kindle disappears regularly and I can ring my phone when I misplace that.
Did you share the tent? If so, have you checked/asked them to check their stuff?

Ginnotginger · 30/06/2018 20:05

Sorry that should have been Fintress

CheshireChat · 30/06/2018 20:13

Nope, because mine is now broken! Really want a back lit one, buy can't justify the expense.

CheshireChat · 30/06/2018 20:13

You can sync your library on your tablet if you have one on the Kindle app.

SilverHairedCat · 01/07/2018 21:06

Some twat me left it in the tent, so it got wrapped up in there when it was put away! Bloody pop ups.

Still, phew, as I'm going away for work for a week and this is when I get all my evening reading done! Yay!

CheshireChat · 02/07/2018 16:29

Glad you found it. It was in the tent in the end!

RedSaidBread · 02/07/2018 16:31

Glad you found it bit just to remind you that you can get the Kindle app for your smartphone and access amazon purchases there if you ever get stuck again!!!

SilverHairedCat · 02/07/2018 16:41

I wouldn't use an app on my phone - the level of back light hurts my eyes if I try to do that for more than a few minutes at a time, but I take the point!

Yep totally understand 'cause the blue light is terrible and i also struggled with it. Now I use an app called Twilight that makes my screen permanently amber in tone and if ive got the Kindle App on I set it to Sepia.

Its not a perfect solution and the Kindle is obviously way better for reading...but it does do the job in a bind!! Smile
