To say that wine is unreasonable (lighthearted)

I’ll start by saying I don’t drink a lot, but if I have a couple of g&t’s im fine the next day, completely fresh. I’m the same if I have a couple of lagers or ciders.
But if I have wine ... the next day I have a stinking headache, grotty taste in mouth, churning stomach and this will be after a couple of small glasses only 😩. I feel it gives me an undeserved hangover from an unreasonably small amount ... why???? Does anyone not get on with wine in this way?

Apparently you're allergic to some of the ingredients, an anti histamine might help.

Did you drink red wine by chance? I’m fine with rose and white but red wine I’m sure is trying to kill me , even 2 small glasses of red will have me feeling rough for a couple of days

No it was white, and no a cheapo one either Grin

Honestly I feel rank, like I’ve thrown bottles of the stuff down my neck (I haven’t). I think the allergy post is interesting.

As a general rule (there has been the occasional exception) my body treats wine and real ale like they're poison. I stick to pure spirits and mixers now when I drink, and the occasional lager.

It's a bit frustrating but does keep a lid on how much I drink which is probably a good thing for my health, weight and wallet.

I think with red wine especially, there’s an element of building up a tolerance to it. I always used to drink white/rose, can’t remember what got me onto red but have drank that for maybe 5 years now. Before it used to give me horrendous headaches etc. But now I can drink it easily and feel fine. White and rose now tastes too “Watery” for me. I don’t really like spirits, they do give me a hangover. I guess it’s what your body is used to.

Wine doesn't affect me particularly badly, but it is definitely unreasonable.

It has forced me to do some very unwise and ridiculous things on more than one occasion.

two glasses of wine I can be drunk

but I can finish a bottle of 70cl vodka with a friend and do shots and be tipsy.

iv been told it's because wines sweet and made from gapes so your body absorbs it quicker and you get drunk quicker not sure how true it is.

always think wine is so exoensive compared to spirits. vodka may be slightly more expensive but it lasts longer and you get more drinks out of it

so ditch the wine and get vodka Grin
