Can’t click on that

You might like to post on one of the numerous relevant threads on the Feminism board, rather than starting yet another one?

While I agree it isn't great, neither is attaching a 17 year old on Twitter more then once

NewbieSpartacus · 29/06/2018 19:11

Jazz Jennings has had surgery at the age of 17.

I'm not clicking it. But I assume this is about Jazz Jennings. I think I would be very seriously concerned about a child having any surgery when they have a TV career based on it. That kind of pressure is not healthy. TBH I don't think children should be on reality TV of any kind, online or terrestrial. They can't make good decisions in private like they should.

Clinicalwaste · 29/06/2018 19:25

You are not wrong op but all you can do is speak out respectfully. jazz Jennings is a very young and vulnerable person. It is a free country and if people are abiding by laws then there is nothing you can do except protest those laws.

NewbieSpartacus · 29/06/2018 23:22

I wasn't condoning the tweets, I was only surprised she had surgery so young. It seems odd to say well it's legal, so that's that; when there are a million threads here debating the righteousness or otherwise of feeding your kid pizza.

One of my big concerns about Jazz's case is what will happen if Jazz realizes he's actually a boy? Would he even be ALLOWED to desist given the publicity the case has generated?

We know that the brain doesn't finish developing until age 25.

Well I guess he may have something of an insiders view on the damaging effect on being on reality TV through your childhood but the Duggars (his wife's family) also have some pretty interesting child rearing practices which TLC must have been aware of and therefore condone and presumably he was also financially recompensed for his participation so it seems a bit of a hypocritical attack.
