Bathing kids outside? Is this weird?

Kids are having fun playing outside and don’t want to come in yet for bath time so I’ve filled their pool up with warm soapy water and letting them have a bath out there. DH is insisting that this isn’t enough and will need a shower when they get in?
We used to do this when we were kids is this wierd?! Surely this is no different to a bath indoors?

Sounds great fun your dh is a misery guts Grin

Phillipa12 · 28/06/2018 18:37

I do this regularly, shame to waste a paddling pool of water, kids loved it!

MartagonLilies · 28/06/2018 18:37

I think that it's fine. They'll be clean, and how fun for them too Smile
Did he say why they need a shower after their bath? Confused

Neverender · 28/06/2018 18:38

Sounds ideal in this weather! I'd do it (but there's no way I can fit in the paddling pool)

kyrenialady · 28/06/2018 18:39

We do this as well, it's fine.

ShatnersBassoon · 28/06/2018 18:39

I wouldn't be clean after sluicing around in a paddling pool in the garden.

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 28/06/2018 18:40

It's fine, ignore your DH.

ArmySal · 28/06/2018 18:41

Wouldn't mind having one outside myself in this weather! Grin

x2boys · 28/06/2018 18:42

i cant see a problem as the water is clean and soapy ,if it was full of grass he would havr a point .

Badbadtromance · 28/06/2018 18:42

Great idea. I'll try that with my lot!

Kingsclerelass · 28/06/2018 18:42

We used to do that. At the end, my mum used to set up a hosepipe ‘shower” to rinse us off before bed. It was one of he best bits of a hot summer.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 28/06/2018 18:44

We have an outdoor shower so rinsed the pool out in that and filled it. If my brother wasn’t here I’d have stripped off and got in with them Grin

My toddler has recently developed an aversion to the bath, so I made up her baby bath in the back garden with toys to try and make it fun last evening. Much less crying than normal, totally worth it!

It's such a nice evening I wish I could have an outdoor bath... Unfortunately we are very overlooked!

FizzyWizzyFlash · 28/06/2018 18:46

We do the same. It's super fun for them and convenient for me. They eat dinner outside, I soap them up and hose them down. Yanbu !

NotUmbongoUnchained · 28/06/2018 18:47

DH has grumped off for an indoor shower Grin

Some of my favourite memories of summer as a kid is bathing in the garden in the paddling pool.

I have done the same for DS...he loves it, keeps us out in the fresh air for longer, gets him clean for bed, me and DP can sit in the garden in the sun and have a glass of wine and chat while DS bathes....what's not to like?

I always empty and rinse the paddling pool, refill with warm soapy water and chuck a few toys and a flannel in.

I might do it myself (secluded garden) when we get the bigger paddling pool later this week.

LanaKanesTerfyVagina · 28/06/2018 18:58

Somehow more fun than a proper bath, but gets the same result.

I don't think outside air is dirtier than inside air is it??

applesandpears56 · 28/06/2018 18:59

I do this! I’ve even washed their hair in a paddling pool before.
Your oh is being silly.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 28/06/2018 19:01

He’s on a medication change atm and is a right miserable cunt. Date night tonight is going to be fun Grin

I used to Bath the kids in a paddling pool, when we were on caravan holidays. Much nicer and warmer than the shower blocks.

DownAndUnder · 28/06/2018 19:13

I do this every time we have the pool out, I’m not pouring away clean water then filling a bath.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 28/06/2018 19:41

Well they had a fucking blast!

We do this too when our pool is out! I take a tough-tub of warm water out, chuck them the shampoo and shower gel, then rinse them down with bowls of warm water from the tough-tub. I have been known to jump in and freshen up myself. I neither know nor care whether they end up as clean as they’d be after a bath/shower!

Wetwashing00 · 28/06/2018 19:58

I remember my mum doing this to me & my brother when we were kids.
Great fun, get to spend longer in the pool too.
As long as they look & smell clean, does it really matter?

onceisawabee · 28/06/2018 20:05

My DP once had a shower outside as the indoor shower was occupied. He was 28 😂
