To not give teacher a gift now?

DS's teacher and TA. Would it be bad form to not give a gift now, just a make DS make a card and get him to bring them something back from where we go on holiday? Or should I organise some meaningless crap to hand over next week?
He will have the same teachers next school year as it's a mixed year group class.

Box of celebrations, job done

sparklepops123 · 28/06/2018 07:17

I wouldn’t give anything if he’s going back to same teacher

BoxsetsAndPopcorn · 28/06/2018 07:21

Mine have had the same teacher numerous times, always done a gift though. It's a thank you for their hard work and extra effort over the year.

BingTheButterflySlayer · 28/06/2018 07:40

Mine may well end up having the same teachers but with the opposite child next year! I'm still going to get them something but I've got no chuffing idea what - cos they've been bloody amazing.

QuantumPixies · 28/06/2018 07:44

It’s totally up to you. I don’t really like presents, I prefer cards anyway.

Bunchofdaffodils · 28/06/2018 07:46

I think a card of appreciation would be perfect. How many mugs/ boxes of chocolates does one person need!?

RedSkyAtNight · 28/06/2018 07:48

Giving them a card will surely suffice anyway.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 28/06/2018 07:50

You might like to give a card to show you’ve appreciated this year’s efforts.

Barbie222 · 28/06/2018 07:51

No please don't, a card means a lot and is lovely!

My two best teacher presents- an Oxfam education related donation, like this or some flowers on the first day of the next school year.

AndreasFault · 28/06/2018 08:14

BertrandRussell given or received?

Hoppinggreen · 28/06/2018 08:16

I never given an end of term present to a teacher

SugarIsAmazing · 28/06/2018 08:17

I don't give teachers gifts.

Dustywillow · 28/06/2018 08:19

I have never given a teacher a present from my dc!

I never gave them as a child either nor did anyone else in my year.

DocTrouble · 28/06/2018 08:53

No neither did we. It's all a bit OTT but I don't want DS to feel left out or the teachers to think we're miserable sods or create bad feeling especially as he has SN.

I have to join in for DD's class but that's £2 and a picture and is pre-school. Not sure what is expected in "proper" school.

Nothing is expected. We get paid for our work. Please don't worry about it.
