menu interpretation

Just asking . . . if you saw on a menu in a gastro-pub kind of place 'Wiltshire* lamb and mint sausages' - what would you expect to get, and what other interpretations of that listing might be feasible?
*county changed to protect the innocent.

I’d expect a sausage, primarily made of lamb and flavoured with mint.

But I have he feeling you’re going to say they made tiny mint sausages cos they like tonfuck with food.

SacharissaCrisplock · 27/06/2018 23:16

I would expect sausages made from Wiltshire lamb with mint in them.

However, if you were being picky I suppose you could also expect a piece of Wiltshire lamb served with mint sausages. That would be really odd though.

UpstartCrow · 27/06/2018 23:16

Sausages made from (wiltshire) lamb and mint.

BurpeesAreTheWorkOfTheDevil · 27/06/2018 23:16

Sausages made with lamb from Wiltshire?

argumentativefeminist · 27/06/2018 23:16

I would expect lamb sausages with some mint in them but probably wouldn't choose this. I'm imagining it could have been a traditional piece of lamb with some hideous mint jelly tubes/"sausages" though?

ThisIsntMeHonestGuv · 27/06/2018 23:16

Umm sausages made of lamb and mint. Either made in Wiltshire, or the lamb was Wiltshire lamb.

Ohyesiam · 27/06/2018 23:17

I would expect lamb, from “Wiltshire” served with mint sauce.

What did they see be you op?

BurpeesAreTheWorkOfTheDevil · 27/06/2018 23:17

Mint (on its own) sausages sound disgusting

UpstartCrow · 27/06/2018 23:17

I can see it now. There is no such thing as a mint sausage!

GahWhatever · 27/06/2018 23:18

I would expect lamb and mint sausages with the lamb coming from whatever county was in the title (eg Wiltshire).
What did you get OP?

OhHelpNooo · 27/06/2018 23:19

Intersting . . . ohyesIam where does the sausage feature in your interpretation?
BTW it wasn't me that ordered it and it's not a funck-with-your-food kind of place. I will explain very shortly.

Is it lamb rolled up with mint rolled into it?

argumentativefeminist · 27/06/2018 23:21

@Faster that's a fair shout. I'm unusually invested in this now

CourtneyLovely · 27/06/2018 23:22

I'm presuming you got lamb with a sausage-shaped portion of mint sauce?

BurpeesAreTheWorkOfTheDevil · 27/06/2018 23:25

Anyone else hoping there's a photo of whatever was served?

Faster · 27/06/2018 23:26

In my head you got a lump of lamb with mint sausages. Shaped a bit like liquorice torpedos. And if that’s not what you got I’ll be sorely disappointed.

argumentativefeminist · 27/06/2018 23:27

So hungry for a sausage now (Blush)

Kleptronic · 27/06/2018 23:27

I have never encountered a sausage made of lamb, it's too dear, no chef would do that. Therefore it's as was said above, some madness with mint jelly in tubes served with lamb.

Coconutcreampie · 27/06/2018 23:29

The Anticipation .....

mcdog · 27/06/2018 23:31

I would expect a sausages made from lamb and mint. What did you get??

mummabearfoyrbabybears · 27/06/2018 23:32

It's nearly midnight and bloody boiling and now I'm craving roast lamb and roasties. Thanks OP.

OhHelpNooo · 27/06/2018 23:32

Well, sorry to disappoint but the 'Wiltshire lamb and mint sausages' were, in fact, exactly that. Wiltshire sausages made of lamb with some mint in. I had the dubious pleasure at the weekend of having lunch near a table who ordered this x2 and then created an almighty stink when they didn't get what they expected which was, apparently, a bit of lamb, with additional sausages. They demanded replacement food and were so thoroughly unpleasant to the staff and adamant that the menu listing was misleading I felt I had to ask. How the staff managed to remain polite I don't know. Their loud protests at being 'native English speakers' (as the staff were also, not that it's important) conveniently glossed over the whole issue of the mint, y'know, mint sausages being such a native English kinda thing.

Desperately placemarking. I think my vote goes to lamb rolled up with mint sauce too

LisaTheMug · 27/06/2018 23:35

Mint sausages?

Like Polos?

ACatsNoHelpWithThat · 27/06/2018 23:35

Maybe lamb & mint might have been a little clearer for the thickos

Bonus points if they threatened with tripadvisor.

Thank god they didn't order spotted dick!
