I have been following the story of Noura and signed the petition like any woman with a heart would. This poor girl was forced into a marriage to a much older man and then raped by him while being held down by his family.
She was put to death for stabbing him after the incident, for which I can not blame her when you live in a country where a woman's worth is nothing.

So I was relieved this morning to read that her sentence had been commuted. But her case is not an isolated one unfortunately and whether we believe it or not the world is filled with Noura's even our little so called civilized country.
But what dismays me as even though I do see myself as a strong, independent, educated woman who can stand her own ground, when you read the Feminist threads it is filled with so much crap at times that I just can not bring myself to participate. As this is not the type of feminist I want to be or who I want my daughter to be.
They fight over the pettiest little things when there are wider issues where all their energy can be put towards such as Noura's.
The world is changing and it is changing not for the better unfortunately.
I know I am going to be ripped to shreds for my views but thank god we live in a democratic society where I am allowed to air them.
