To be really mad at UberEats?

I got an email from them to my normal uber account registered email.

It said '£10 off your first uber eats

I've never used uber eats before. They sent me the code.

So I told the kids we could have McDonald's tonight as a treat (I don't drive so we never go passed a mcDs)

I'm pretty skint so £10 off is great for me. I ordered them food and didn't order myself any (can't afford it)
Get the app and it says sign in with uber. So i sign into the brand new ubereats app i just downloaded with my normal uber details like it told me to and go to the check out.

Enter the code and it says I'm not a first time user and code isn't valid.

I am a first time user. I've never used uber eats before and they sent me the bloody code!!

Apparantly because Ive used the £10 code when i originally signed upto NORMAL uber years ago this £10 code isnt valid.

But it's a whole different app?? And they knew I already use normal uber because they sent it to my email?

There no way to contact them apart from a form

So I've had to just spend money I don't really have on McDs cause I couldn't bear to tell the kids they couldn't have it Blush Sad

I know me being skint and telling my kids before I checked the code isn't ubers fault but surely they can't send you a code way if download our app, here's a code, sign in with your original details. oh no you're not new?
They already know I'm signed up with them through normal uber?
Just seems so unfair

Yabu to think McDonald's is a treat and bring your children up thinking that any food is a treat.

AnalUnicorn · 26/06/2018 19:22

Whatshallidonow’s response is a bit random.

I agree OP, that’s tight of Uber. Can you register with a different email address and pretend to be a new customer ?

QTQueer · 26/06/2018 19:22

Yes I'm a terrible mother.

But I'm asking about the uberapp not the fact I'm going to give all my children an eating disorder then burn in the firey pits of hell for all eternity for doing so. But thankyou for taking the time to type that

You've certainly made me re-evaluate my whole life :)

QT That response is brilliant 😂😂😂

QTQueer · 26/06/2018 19:25

I uninstalled the app and then registered with a different email and it just said code not valid.

Kids are enjoying their (devil) food now so uber got the money anyways

Yanbu , I also dont understand why the two apps would be related. Sorry op, it is frustrating. And you have to wait ages for feedback. Rather use a new email address next time.

PositiveVibez · 26/06/2018 19:27

Yabu to think McDonald's is a treat and bring your children up thinking that any food is a treat

🙄 There's always one.

ThePinkOcelot · 26/06/2018 19:28

Give it a bloody rest Whatshallido! FFS!

That would have pissed me off OP.

Classic Mumsnet.

ThePants999 · 26/06/2018 19:34

How many times am I going to open a thread and find that Whatshallidonowpeople has got in first with a pissy irrelevant comment.

Fairypiggy · 26/06/2018 19:37

That would annoy me too OP. I am annoyed that Uber eats don’t cover my area yet they keep giving me false hope by sending me emails with discount codes that I can’t use!

lhastingsmua · 26/06/2018 19:48

Fair enough, you hadn’t used Uber eats before so you weren’t to know. I do think it’s clear that it’s the same account though as all your personal details are the same and you log in with your ‘Uber profile’. I believe Uber eats has more promo code events than Uber does though, so there’s a possibility of discounted food in the future. The email that you received was probably automated.

I don’t think it’s Uber’s fault that you hyped up McDonald’s to your children, that you’re broke, that you still got the McDonald’s even though you’re broke etc.

Also don’t try to make a new account unless you use completely different personal details (including IP Address) as Uber can easily link and ban accounts. So you’ll just be wasting your time as they automatically ban all of your accounts and only ask you which one you want to keep when you contact them. Which puts you in a shit situation if you only realise this when booking a taxi

I had a similar thing. an email from uber eats saying free delivery during lunch time yet the codes didnt work for any take away restaurants. weird.

gimeallthecake · 08/10/2018 17:30

Is it possible that the email isn't from Uber but a fraudulent one made to look like it is, So it gets your login details etc?? What email address did the code
Come from?
