Splinter in foot still hurting after a week

Sorry for putting this in AIBU I wanted traffic. One of my dc7 is poorly and up all night and i have had no sleep so difficult to think straight. DC got splinter in foot removed nearly a week ago - it was under skin and skin had closed over - doctor removed it by using a needle. I am not sure how long it had been there. Doctor thought no sign of infection.

Nearly a week on and the area is still hurting as much as it had before but no puss of any infection on skin and the area of red is the same size as it was, but it still hurts and skin hasn't healed. DC usually heals quickly. Have been putting germolene on it. DC threw up a couple of times yesterday and has had really bad sickness and diarrhoea over night - very watery, body basically emptied of fluid. I got them to sip over night and have persuaded them to eat today and they are walking around fine and mostly bright but still has diarrhoea after eating every time and now has runny nose. No temperature over last few days and still no temperature today. Spoke to doctor yesterday as I happened to see them, and they said bring dc in if dc has temperature, but not just because of throwing up - dc wasn't with me, I was describing symptoms.

Is it normal that the wound in foot is still hurting after a week? Is the sickness possibly related. I haven't had much sleep last two nights so would appreciate opinion from someone with a fresh brain before i think of making an appointment at doctor. Thanks!

The wound sounds like it may still have a puece of splinter in it. Tummy bug sounds entirely separate.

Try phoning 101 and see what they suggest you do.

And then apologise for phoning the wrong number and speak to nhs on 111 - sorry
