To despise my period

Always had an unpredictable and very heavy menstral cycle but just recently, I have developed a new pattern whereby it stops completely after day 3 and comes back with vengeance somewhere between day 4 and day 7... but not always. When it does it's heavier. It's like it waits until I have stopped using pads and or tampons before it comes back. It's like it's taunting me! What's that all about! As if it doesn't suck enough the first time around, it waits til I am entirely unprepared and comes back for round two! I have become quite the expert at leaping out of bed in the middle of the night without my lower half touching the sheets. I am at a total loss as to why evolution hasn't done something about this yet!

I've no answers as to what's happening with your sneaky periods, but it sounds like a total faff and horribly annoying! If you're not currently trying to conceive, have you thought about using some sort of contraception (such as the pill or the deppo injection) to regulate or stop your periods entirely since they're causing you so much grief? I always recommend the deppo - I used to get incredibly bad period pain, but I haven't had a period since before I got pregnant with my youngest DD over 10 years ago, bliss!

Ugh I understand this - also a dab hand at the out of bed leap. Also the off the loo and into the shower dash!

Why is biology so unfair?!

Ollivander84 · 25/06/2018 00:10

Mine has started doing the sneaky thing! Day 5 it finishes and I'm "yay"
Day 6/7 and it's back Angry

As much as i hated my period (no longer really have one due to implant)
at least it was kind enough to give me raging cramps a good 12-24 hours before i started bleeding so i knew it was coming. That's about as friendly as it got though, 5-7 days of heavy bleeding, water retention so i wouldn't have to pee for 48 hours at a time but felt like i was going to explode, big gushes so i always leaked and was forever waddling round and sleeping sat up on a bunch of folded up bath towels, urgh!

I second what a Pp has said, have you looked at all the options if you’re done reproducing?

Coils get a mixed review on here, and my first one didn’t go so well, but I haven’t had a period since the second one went in over two years ago. Living. The. Dream.

@BetsyBigNose I was taking the depo jag but one of the side effects is that it lessens your bone density and I have several conditions that make that more serious than usual, I also can't take the pill because I am at additional risk of stroke with them... I guess I'm just super lucky Hmm

@NormHonal I had a marina coil but I became a fat psycho with it and also suffered water retention. I am definitely not having anymore kids, I have 3 amazing DC who drive me bloody crazy... maybe I could just get someone to whip it all out Grin

Copper coil?

Honestly my first Mirena was terrible, hated it. Second one has been everything they promise.

RayRayBidet · 25/06/2018 09:22

YANBU.
I too despise my period.
I had a mirena and I also turned into a fat psycho. Had it taken out and now I get awful flooding, pain, diarrhoea, nausea and migraine.
Just to put the icing on the cake I am now in perimenopause and started getting heartburn just before my period like when I was pregnant.
Mother nature is a bitch.

InSpaceNooneCanHearYouScream · 26/06/2018 11:26

Yep- the curious roll/limbo out of bed and shuffle to loo. It's shit.

Merryoldgoat · 26/06/2018 11:36

I’m eagerly awaiting menopause. I have the same shit as you plus horrific cramps and constipation. It’s fucking awful.

Caribou58 · 26/06/2018 11:41

Post-menopausal woman who had horrendous periods (except for last 7 years because of Mirena) here.

The menopause brings a whole new and lasting set of shite.

BigGrannyPants · 26/06/2018 13:25

Men have it so easy, I'd definitely take a bit of morning glory over this!!
