To ask why you slam doors ?

Just come back from a lovely holiday. Really relaxing & we really chilled out. But, every night & every day, without fail, other hotel guests would slam their doors. Didn't matter if it was early morning or late at night, it was slam after slam.
Have noticed this before & it doesnt seem to matter if it's the UK or abroad, or what star rating the hotel is, people just slam doors. Is it really so hard to be considerate of others ? Makes me feel like shouting up the corridor at them. So rude.

I always thought it was because hotel room doors are heavy fire doors that self close?

StoorieHoose · 24/06/2018 20:40

If everyone was doing it I would think it was the hotel door closers that caused the banging rather than people doing it deliberately. We have a faulty door closer at work and it makes you jump out your skin no matter where on the building you are.

I thought this was going to be my neighbour complaining about my OH. He's deaf. I keep expressing his slam isn't necessary, I wish the neighbours would complain so he'd know how voluble he is! Anyway, to to your point, hotel doors are heavy due doors and guests are oblivious to other guests.

There are definitely door slamming type people, it’s not necessarily the doors being heavy/fire doors. My neighbours slam doors constantly and it’s a big family, so all day and evening they come and go and slam their car doors, slam the front door and then proceed to slam the internal doors. They also shout a lot and do things like smoke under my kids’ windows and talk really loudly when leaving and entering the house even if very late at night. I think they’re just bloody inconsiderate twats that just stomp around without thinking of the impact on people around them.

I slam them when I'm angry.

Maybe that's silly but it makes me feel better ;)

As for the guests... Is there a draft? Do they maybe have a snappy lock (idk what they're called in English?) that needs to be closed shut with an unusual amount of force to properly lock? Is the door heavy?

Or you're just unfortunate enough to have your rooms near inconsiderate people...

A friend once told me that I obviously didn't grow up in an apartment because I was so noisy... Idk whether there's truth to that, btw. (Also because we did live in an apartment when I was little.Hmm)

I don’t deliberately slam door but i’m often caught out by unfamiliar doors which are lighter or have easier hinges than my doors at home. If I use the amount of force I use normally then I get caught out by the door closing harder/louder than expected.

I do also like the make sure hotel doors are fully shut for security reasons which can also result in an accidental slam.

I’m not being inconsiderate- I’m just in unfamiliar surroundings which work differently to what I was expecting.

No these weren't the swing fast shut doors. normal weight. We managed to close our door every time just pulling it shut behind us. Or pushing when we were inside.
