To think i might have hayfever

I'm 40 - have never had hayfever in my life! But for the last week have had a sort of fizzy feeling in my nose and behind my eyes, stuffed up nose, red eyes and a scratchy throat. Doesn't really feel like a cold though - so wondered if you can just randomly get hayfever?

Yes

SadTrombone · 24/06/2018 18:49

I randomly got it as a teen (granted a lot younger onset than yourself but all my cousins have had it since they were toddlers) so I'd say it's likely.
Suggest you try and antihistamine and maybe some nasal spray (Beconase is good) and see how you feel.
Disclaimer: not a medical professional just a hayfever sufferer!!

doris9034 · 24/06/2018 18:49

How does that happen then?

You're welcome :-)

I seem to get it every other year, no idea why. This year has probably been the worst so far, my eyes are so sore Sad

Sounds like you have it too.

Sparklesocks · 24/06/2018 18:54

You can get it at any time unfortunately!
I have found mine has got better as I’ve got older, but I still get the sniffles.

doris9034 · 24/06/2018 18:57

You can get it at any age. But this year is particularly bad so hopefully you won't have it too badly every year.

I keep mine at bay with hay fever eye drops and nasal spray.

overnightangel · 24/06/2018 18:59

It didn’t bother me until I was 21/22, used to get it really bad late May / early June. Had three weeks this year of it being worse than ever, as of last Monday, nothing. Always terrible early summer then over with
