I get all my avatar and signature geekery out of the way on Outpost gallifrey. MN is for bashing it out and having a laugh.

I fnarking hate avatars and tickers. They are like ever present holiday slideshows, with fnarking glitter.

indeed!whats wrong with MN style profiles,where you can have a nosey if you feel like it,but you dont have pictures of kids you have no interest whatsoever in shoved in your face every 5 seconds.

I do have an avatar on my own message board. But it is not sparkly. And I don't allow tickers or other crap.

soooooooo glad MN doesn't have tickers and loads of photos etc, it would do my head in.

Tis the conversation that goes on within. On mumsnet there is very little to detract from the conversation - apart from the odd advert at the side. On mumsnet you get 100% (well 85% maybe) pure conversation and no headache!!!

It took me ages to unmix mn from nm. I get the emails from nm but pretty much ignore them. I've never gone on any of their forums.

I HATE the tickers and sparkly stuff, like on that American site. I don't care what their babies look like, how old their kids are, or any of that other c88p...

Boring conversations. I haven't really enjoyed and other parenting site but this one

I definitely prefer the spirit of MN, but I have to admit, from a geek's perpspective, NM is much better deisgn wise. MN is a lttle bit basic / archaic (sorry hunnies, mawh mwah! xxxxx)
