To hate people using lol?

Specifically in relation to a group chat I’m in. One of my friends uses it constantly and it winds me up so much and I don’t know why.

It’s when nothing’s funny.

‘I’m obsessed with cheese sandwiches lol’, ‘I know I’ll get there earlier than arranged lol’, ‘shall we have a drink tomorrow lol’.

I don’t know why she does it but I get unreasonably irritated by it. Most people stopped using it ten years ago.

I hate it too. And even more when something is so very funny it’s loool. Which to my mind means, laugh out out out loud. Bizarre. 🙄

I hate that too. I mentioned it to my OH and he suggested that maybe it’s a confidence thing? Like the lol softens the message/makes it less demanding/gives them an out. In the same way some people giggle more than others especially when nervous. I don’t know but it’s made me look at it differently since he said this.

Ugh I'm with you. I hate the word and never use it myself but it doesn't bother me too much when others do, although I haven't anyone use it in the way the OP describes

Yes it bugs me when people use it as punctuation! But what bugs me more atm is girls pretending they're thick to appear cute and innocent, but that is a whole other thread!

My now no contact sister used it in her texts to me,
I thought she meant lots of love, no she didn't!!!
Her texts were mean after re-reading them, glad I went nc.

I used to work with someone who would say "lol" out loud when she thought something was funny...

I use it a lot, it’s not something I’ve ever got out of the habit doing. I do only use it when I am being daft, not as puncuation

I love lol. I don’t use it as punctuation but I do use it a lot. I also say it a lot (as in “lol” instead of “el oh el”). I don’t know why. I feel like I should have grown out of it as I’m pretty sure lol was a thing like 15 years ago, but I still say it. Lol.

I doubt most people are actually laughing out loud when they type lol. Worst of all is pmsl and roflol.

I hate lol so I don't think YABU (but tbh it might be a bit odd). I also hate it when people use "PMSL" and I've got quite a strong aversion to the crying-with-laughter emoji. I don't know why but sometimes it can make me feel quite angry!
