It’s asking for money towards a stolen engagement ring as they cannot afford to replace it as it was nicked out of a car.

It came up directly under the plea to fund legal help for the poor children being affected by Trump.

It just made me feel a little Hmm

How much have they raised?!

Butterymuffin · 20/06/2018 19:50

I know what you mean but there now seem to be all sorts of personal, non-charitable funding appeals and I can't see them stopping.

ShirleyPhallus · 20/06/2018 19:51

People can do what they want with their own money

Who they want to donate to and for what causes isn’t anyone’s business. Where do you draw the line of what’s reasonable and what isn’t? Who makes up those rules?

sunshinewithabitofdrizzle · 20/06/2018 19:53

They should have claimed out of their contents insurance. Also what was the engagement ring doing in the car and not on the person's finger? Sounds icky to me.

Nicknacky · 20/06/2018 19:54

There is loads of stolen engagement ring stories on there. Not many donations right enough!

Grissomlover · 20/06/2018 19:56

This is another cheeky one.

I get that people can do what they like with their money, but it’s a little insensitive IMO.

I’m not sure how much it has raised, not a great deal I don’t think but in the hundreds.

OP posts:
Butterflyrosebud · 20/06/2018 19:57

How ridiculous and cringy. Some people have no shame.

A normal person would just take responsibility and pay to replace or claim on insurance.

BitchQueen90 · 20/06/2018 20:00

I have seen one before for a breast enlargement. I was Shock at the CF-ery.

Amanduh · 20/06/2018 20:02

Well if that happened to my friends I’d donate. Don’t really see the problem

kateandme · 20/06/2018 20:05

all different people in the world I guess.thats what keeps it spinning.how people feel about certain thing means everyone can get a chance.
of course there are some people in real desperate need.but each person has there own points in life where they need/want/choose stuff so its all relative to them at that point.
you can still be sensitive about things and want stuff.

HopeClearwater · 20/06/2018 20:05

This is no different to the requests in classified ads over the years for help with finances. See Private Eye.
You don’t have to give to CFs!

Trialsmum · 20/06/2018 20:05

Ah ex FB ‘friend’ put one on asking people to find her lessons to become a pole dancing teacher... the same day as she posted to say she’d just booked ticket to take her daughter to London to see a west end musical!

Trialsmum · 20/06/2018 20:05

Fund not find

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/06/2018 20:06

Hi i'm Jamie. I'm a 33 year old Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse. I have been married for 7 years and with my wife 16. We have 2 young Children Isaac and Elijah

If he's been married for 7 years to a 16yo, its not a divorce he needs , its prison Shock

ikeepaforkinmypurse · 20/06/2018 20:06

it doesn't hurt anyone to ask. If someone is willing to give money to random strangers, go for it.

There's always something worst happening in the world, it doesn't mean we can't get on with our life and first world problems.

sue51 · 20/06/2018 20:08

Well, I suppose they think if you don't ask you don't get.

MyKingdomForBrie · 20/06/2018 20:11

I can’t get wound up about this. I have seen ones that annoy me (for example the ‘I didn’t buy travel insurance please get me out of the shit I created for myself’) but I don’t think contents insurance typically covers jewellery in cars and being burgled is just horrible.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/06/2018 20:11

Ah WITH his wife for 16 years , not she is 16yo.
Must learn to read Shock

SugarIsAmazing · 20/06/2018 20:11

I have done two Go Fund Me appeals.
One was for money to get six rescue cats and dogs neutered/spayed and I raised £400.

The other one was to lay for transport for a Spanish dog to come to the UK. That raised just over £200 and there was some left over to donate to the rescue in Spain.

I decided that if people didn't want to donate that was their prerogative, but it was worth a try.

I think there are definitely some cringy appeals but people don't have to donate.

Nicknacky · 20/06/2018 20:13

I think they are worthy funds. I just don’t agree with funds where the rest of us have had to find the money or save up but others think their love is so special that others should contribute.

ZolaShepherd · 20/06/2018 20:14

Sugar I think they are worthy, and not in the same league of CF-ery

YearOfYouRemember · 20/06/2018 20:15

Jamie has been with his wife for 16 years. Not married since she WAS 16!

YearOfYouRemember · 20/06/2018 20:16

Ahh, missed the further post.

TakeawayTakeMeAway · 20/06/2018 20:17

Missing the point here but why is divorce expensive? £2000?
