To wonder what was going on on the bus?

I was on my way home this evening. The bus arrived, and I handed over my fare and said "a single, please".
The bus driver took my change, looked at it, and then handed it back to me, shook his head, and motioned me to get on the bus.
I was totally confused, but you know, long day and I needed to get home. I sat down and began to notice others get on. He received fares from everyone else who got on, apart from people who had passes or tickets.

I'm so confused! Why didn't he take my money? Why do I care so much?!!

I had a bus driver do something very similar once. Then he kept doing it. Long story short - we're now married 😁.

Is he nice? Your type? Are you single?

Pippinfi · 19/06/2018 20:02

I've had this done to me when the bus driveways dry little change. Perhaps the other passengers had exact change of passes e tc.

FASH84 · 19/06/2018 20:02

Where were you you can't use cash on some buses, you buy tickets at the bus stop or use oyster/contact less card on the bus itself

Butterflykissess · 19/06/2018 20:02

i dont think he let the op get on the bus. unless i read it wrong. sondoubt he fancies her.

purplecorkheart · 19/06/2018 20:04

Maybe he didn't have change or any of those receipt instead of change things that some buses have. Otherwise a random good deed?

YesItsMeIDontCare · 19/06/2018 20:05

@Butterflykissess

"motioned me to get on the bus."

I think he did!

FloralBunting · 19/06/2018 20:09

Smile He wasn't my type, no, and I'm taken, but nice thought!

I had the exact money for the fare, £1.60, and I'm not in an area where I need to have a pass etc. I use this bus very regularly. He did indeed let me on, and I watched him take money off everyone else who got on while on the journey.

I'm just mildly baffled...

i totally read that as off! very weird then.

ImYourWomanJonSnow · 19/06/2018 20:10

They do that when the ticket machine doesn’t work. Happened a few times to me.

WhiteCoyote · 19/06/2018 20:16

Ticket machine probably wasn’t working.

WhiteCoyote · 19/06/2018 20:16

Sorry x post!

FloralBunting · 19/06/2018 20:17

Nope, ticket machine was fine for everyone else who paid with change.

I shall have to chalk it up my ravishing feminine aura...

His daily random act of kindness?

LeighaJ · 19/06/2018 20:20

Could be he thought you were attractive or you reminded him of someone he knows or he might feel good picking a random person to give a free ride occasionally.

Littlechocola · 19/06/2018 20:20

Take him flowers next time. He loves you. Or thinks you are someone else.

FelixBrown · 19/06/2018 20:21

Was it really small change? If so, maybe he didn't feel like counting it - or maybe you looked like you needed it for other things

FleshLiabilities · 19/06/2018 20:51

Oooh, saucer of milk for FelixBrown.

FloralBunting · 19/06/2018 20:55

I gave him a £1 coin, a 50p and 10p. I was in my uniform.

I'm going with random act of kindness!!
