I'm putting together a book for DS for his upcoming 18th birthday.

I want to include life tips and advice for adult life, and wondered if you had any ideas of words of wisdom

It will include things such as

  • never settle
  • follow your dreams not everyones expectations
  • do your fair share of the housework without being asked
  • offer to do night feeds and/or changes if you have children
  • cross the road when walking behind women at night (taken from another mumsnetters post a while ago, to make the women feel less intimidated!)
  • have an emergency fund

and more but I won't reel off the whole lot!

But if you were passing on advice to lads going into adulthood, what would you say?

Thank you :)

You're more likely to regret missed opportunities than you are to regret taking a chance.

Never be afraid to talk about your mental health.

Love as you'd want to be loved.

Happy birthday to DS!! Cake

Oh and try and be as physically fit and healthy as you can in your twenties! It is much harder to start doing that in your thirties!

Always buy a good mattress and good shoes.
When you’re not in one, you’re in the other.

WhiteCoyote · 20/06/2018 07:53

A little kindness towards a stranger can make thier week.

Boffin90 · 20/06/2018 07:54

I genuinely don’t mean to be a pedant, only mentioning as it may be put in this book but the one above is supposed to be..
Prior preparation and planning prevents piss poor performance.
