Ant infestation nightmare

On holiday in Spain. Staying in a lovely villa. Would be lovely if it weren't for having been totally infested with ants and flying ants (who knew the feckers flew) over the last 48 hours.
The owner who is UK based, to his credit, organised for a pest control man to come out today, he has set poison for the ants to eat and take back to the nest, hopefully ridding us of them. In the meantime there are literally hundreds, probably thousands of them in the living room.

I feel like I'm crawling. I'm not good with bugs at the best of times, and this is totally freaking me out. At least they are not in the bedroom or kitchen.

Would it be unreasonable to ask the owner for some sort of compensation as it's really ruining my enjoyment of an otherwise great holiday.

Yes, I would definitely ask for compensation. Flying ants are very unpleasant inside. It means there is a nest in the house and they are hatching. It's the time of year for it.

Quick fixes

Have you got any antibac spray in the kitchen? Spray the fuckers.

Boil kettle and pour on them.

Spray them with deodorant.

Empty bottle, put sugary drink at bottom. They climb in then drown.

Thanks for the input. Out for dinner and a few gins - dreading going back to see what's happening, am hoping gin will help me to sleep without dreaming of ants crawling all over me!
